Where Do Santee Junk Removal Companies Take The Junk?

Junk removal companies and junk haulers that are hauling junk from within Santee area have a few options to dispose of the junk removed for their customers.

The first option is to take the junk to a local landfill. For junk haulers (and for Santee residents alike!), there are a few options. The obvious choice due to proximity is that of the Sycamore Landfill. This is a local landfill operated by Republic Services. This landfill is located at 8514 Mast Blvd, Santee, CA 92071. The pros of this dump are it’s close location to Santee, and it’s friendly weigh station staff. The cons for this dump are long lines, high prices, long distance down muddy and dusty dirt road to access the actual dump site (which is hard on our vehicles and equipment), and the increased chances of nails or screws in a truck or trailer tire.

The next option is that of the EDCO transfer station in La Mesa, located in the commercial industrial section of La Mesa, located at 8184 Commercial St, La Mesa, CA 91942. This dump transfer station makes the junk dump portion of the job much easier and quicker, due to quick lines, inside dump site (versus outdoor), lower chances of having a nail or screw in a tire, and some of the nicest landfill staff around. Although it’s not in La Mesa, it is still just a 10-13 minute drive from Santee, CA.

There is also the City of San Diego Miramar Landfill. This is the most common option and is the cheapest way to get rid of the junk or trash that junk haulers pick up and remove. This is the landfill which most of the transfer stations eventually make their way to, and it is also one of the more central dumps in the San Diego County. As a result, it is also one of the more busy landfills, has long lines, high presence of local California Highway Patrol checking for improper hauling or vehicles, and a great place to get one or two nails in a tire in quick order. Although this landfill is in San Diego city confines, it’s actually fairly close to Santee, just being a quick 15- minute drive on the 52 freeway, up the Summit dropping down into Miramar.

The second alternative option is to take the junk to a donation center. This is a good option for those who want to donate their junk to a worthy cause, but again – not all items are donatable, and still requires the unaccepted items to be taken to the landfill. The third alternative option is to take the junk to an incinerator. This is the most expensive option but is the best way to get rid of the garbage.

The La Mesa EDCO trash transfer station has rather limited hours for self-hauling: Monday – Friday 5:00 am to 2:30 pm. Saturdays and Sundays offer longer hours of Saturday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Sunday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

In contrast, the City of San Diego Miramar Landfill stays open later into the day, offering hours of Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Miramar Landfill is closed on Sundays. The address for the City of San Diego Miramar Landfill is 5180 Convoy Street, San Diego, CA, and can be upwards of a 15-20 mile drive and 20+ minutes of extra drive time. With gas prices at $5.00-$10.00, depending on when you are reading this, the cost can be increased due to gas fuel costs.

Most locations also offer recycling centers, and proper disposal for yard waste, green debris, concrete, construction debris, batteries, used motor oil, E-waste, hazardous household solutions, and more.

The landfill or trash facility that junk removal companies working in Santee decide to take the garbage to depends on location of the junk removal job, proximity to each of the locations, time of day, and the types of junk or garbage being disposed of.
